If you’ve been watching the Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece, you probably should be aware of what devil fruits are and if you’re not, this article is for you.
This guide breaks down every Devil Fruit shown in Seasons 1 and 2 of the live-action series, what each one means, and who uses it.
What Are Devil Fruits in One Piece?
In the world of One Piece, Devil Fruits are mysterious, supernatural fruits that grant extraordinary powers to whoever eats them but there’s a catch, once you eat a Devil Fruit, you permanently lose the ability to swim. For pirates sailing the open seas, that’s a serious trade off.
There are three types of Devil Fruits:
- Paramecia – The most common type. These give the user superhuman physical abilities.
- Zoan – These allow the user to transform into an animal or a human-animal hybrid.
- Logia – These are the rarest and most powerful. These let the user become, create, and control a natural element like smoke or sand.
Devil Fruits: East Blue (Season 1)
1. The Gum Gum Fruit (Gomu Gomu no Mi)-Monkey D. Luffy

The most iconic Devil Fruit in One Piece belongs to the hero himself. Luffy accidentally ate this fruit as a child, and it permanently turned his entire body into rubber. He can stretch his limbs incredible distances, bounce back from blunt attacks, and deliver powerful punches like his signature Gum Gum Pistol.
2. The Chop-Chop Fruit (Bara Bara no Mi)- Buggy the Clown

Buggy’s Devil Fruit perfectly matches his chaotic personality. It lets him separate every part of his body into floating and independent pieces that he controls at will. He can send his fist flying across a room, detach his head mid battle, or fight with his limbs from a distance. The best of all is that he’s completely immune to slashing and cutting attacks and swords can pass right through him
3. The Slip-Slip Fruit (Sube Sube no Mi)- Alvida

Alvida’s Devil Fruit makes her skin impossibly smooth and slippery. Bullets, blades, and physical attacks simply slide off her body. It also dramatically changed her appearance, which explains why she looks so different between her first appearance and her return in Season 2.
4. The Smoke Smoke Fruit (Moku Moku no Mi)-Smoker

Smoker is the first Logia type user introduced in One Piece. His fruit lets him transform into smoke, produce enormous clouds of it, and control its movement and density. He can turn his body intangible to dodge attacks and use smoke to restrain enemies. In Season 2, he effortlessly defeats Luffy and this is a powerful reminder that ordinary punches are useless against a Logia user.
Devil Fruits- Into The Grandline (Season 2)
Season 2 introduced a flood of new Devil Fruit users as the Straw Hats entered the Grand Line and collided with the criminal organisation, Baroque Works.
1. The Flower Flower Fruit (Hana Hana no Mi) Nico Robin

Robin’s power is one of the most visually striking in the series. She can bloom copies of her own limbs from any surface or from the bodies of other people. Pink petals scatter around her as she activates it. She can grab multiple enemies at once, see from any location using her cloned eyes, or apply enough pressure to break bones in an instant.
2. The Bomb Bomb Fruit (Bomu Bomu no Mi)- Mr. 5

Every single part of Mr. 5’s body can explode and he is fully immune to all blast damage. He turns his breath, limbs, and even his own nasal discharge into explosive weapons. It sounds absurd, but in battle, it makes him extremely difficult to fight at close range.
3. The Kilo-Kilo Fruit- Miss Valentine

Miss Valentine can shift her body weight instantly from as light as a feather all the way up to thousands of kilograms. She uses this to crash down on enemies from great heights or float away from danger without effort.
4. The Wax-Wax Fruit (Doru Doru no Mi) — Mr. 3

Mr. 3 can generate unlimited amounts of candle wax and shape it however he wants. The wax hardens to the strength of steel, letting him build traps, weapons, walls, and even encase enemies in giant sculptures. He is one of the most creative and dangerous Baroque Works agents.
5. The Munch-Munch Fruit (Baku Baku no Mi)-King Wapol

The greedy king of Drum Island can eat and absorb virtually anything like objects, weapons, and structures and then use or reshape whatever he consumed. He can merge materials into his own body or spit them back out in new deadly forms. His personality and his power are a perfect match.
6. The Ox-Ox Fruit (Ushi Ushi no Mi)- Dalton

Dalton is the protector of Drum Island’s people, and his Devil Fruit gives him the power of a bison. He can transform into a full bison or a powerful human-bison hybrid form, gaining massively increased strength and durability in battle.
7. The Human-Human Fruit (Hito Hito no Mi)- Tony Tony Chopper

Chopper is a reindeer who ate a Devil Fruit that gave him human traits like the ability to speak, think, and reason like a person. He can shift between three forms: his natural reindeer form, a small bipedal form good for using his hands and brain, and a large muscular form built for combat. He becomes the Straw Hats’ doctor and one of Season 2’s most beloved new characters.
8. The Sand-Sand Fruit (Suna Suna no Mi)-Crocodile

The Season 2 finale reveals that the shadowy Mr. 0 is actually Sir Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. His Logia fruit lets him transform into sand, control it on a massive scale, and drain all moisture from whatever he touches including living things. His full power is only teased in Season 2, setting up a major threat ahead.
The Devil Fruits in One Piece reflect who each character is, what they want, and how far they are willing to go to get it.
Seasons 1 and 2 introduced 12 extraordinary fruits, and with Season 3 on the way, there are even greater powers still to come.
